David Luiz is the 23-year-old Brazilian who has been playing as a defender for Benfica since 2007.
The young Brazilian defender started his youth career with Vitoria in 2001 where he stayed in training for another four years. He finally made it to their first team squad in 2005 where he stayed for another two years during which he gave 26 appearances
with only one goal.
Then in 2007, he made a loan spell with Benfica in which he made ten appearances with out a single goal. At the end of the year, his contract was expiring with Vitoria and Benfica was interested in the player they already had playing for them, so they signed
him.
Since then David Luiz has made seventy appearances with the club and has managed to score four times. He has also been a part of the Brazilian national team since the under-20 squad that he joined in 2007.
In the summer of 2010, Luiz was also made part of the Brazilian national first team squad. He has made four appearances for his country without scoring a goal.
Now as the January transfer window comes up, Luiz seems to be up for grabs as both the Citizens and the Blues seem to be interested in the young Brazilian.
Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Filipe-c13764 Vieira has made it very clear to the managers’ agents that he will not let the
Brazilian go for anything below forty million.
Also, Carlo Ancelotti announced that he was planning to sign a defender in January but he needs cash from the owners to make this transfer possible.
