Manchester City's Roberto Mancini infuriated at football fixture schedules – Premier League update
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222 Mancini is enraged at the English football authorities and thinks that Manchester City’s fixture load is impossible. His players will be playing five games in a space of 11 days.
The Italian manager is concerned that such a hectic schedule would chip away at his team’s performance and dent their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. He is preparing to face City’s former manager, Mark Hughes, when City hosts Fulham over
the weekend. A win here could lead them to winning their first trophy in 35 years.
City has a game scheduled with Aston Villa on Wednesday for the fifth round of the FA Cup. If the game goes to a replay, the authorities have designated the following Monday night, two days after City is at home to Wigan. It is also just three days before
a Europa League last 16 trip to Dynamo Kyiv.
The problem is worsened by an expanding injury list, with seven players in treatment, leaving Mancini short of numbers after pruning his squad in the January transfer window. Mancini is extraordinarily angry by the fact that he has only 15 fit players and
expressed his concern over the fact they would be fatigued until later in the season as he is unable to freshen up the team due to shortage of replacements.
Complaining about the situation he expressed, "Every two or three days we play and it's impossible. In my life I have never seen this. We arrive in March and we could be playing every two days. Seriously, I have never known this in my career. It is not just
us who have difficult fixture lists, of course, but it's impossible. Something must be changed and we must start to respect the footballers.”
Adding to his statement, he said that the schedules were the one main reason that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 was unable to win the World Cup or European Championship. He believes that players should be considered as humans and not machines for playing football. Talking of
his team he said that it is already very difficult for City to play all these games and if they draw against Aston Villa in the FA Cup then they would have a bigger problem.
However Mancini does not plan to bring in any of his reserves for the Villa tie, "I will not play a weak side in the FA Cup. We want to win it. We left out some players in the Carling Cup and if we had not done that [losing at West Bromwich Albion] we would
probably be in the final this weekend."
Manchester City has won their last seven home games with 24 goals, and won the last game aginst Fulham by a good 4-1. Fulham manager, Hughes, makes his first return to East lands since being sacked 14 months ago. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 is waiting for the former manager
with a worthy reception.
