Manchester City Drifting Apart
Manchester City has failed to live up to the expectations in the English Premier League. Most of the players have failed to perform, while the manager seems to be out of options as well. In this scenario, apparently, the manager
and the players are also not enjoying a particularly good relationship, as the stories of rifts often make the press.
In the gloom and doom situation of City, Carlos Tevez is the only ray of light for the Blues. Carlos Tevez is the top scorer for Manchester City this season, while he is the one finding important goals for them. Now, it seems that
Tevez is the only player in the club who is often relied upon in order to find goals for the team. Therefore, in a new found role of being the centre of attention, Tevez is enjoying a lot of support and fame at Eastland.
However, even this good affiliation with the club seems to be in jeopardy. In the recent match against Bolton Wanderers Carlos Tevez scored the only goal for the match, which gave his team a hard-fought victory. But, undermining
his influence in the game, Roberto Mancini decided to substitute his star striker in the 90th minute, bringing James Milner in his place. This move did not sit well with Tevez who thought that there was no reason for substituting him when he was
winning the game for his side. Roberto Mancini, on the other hand, had different ideas in mind.
After this substitution, Tevez lashed out at his manager on the sidelines. It was a public display of displeasure which was read as a sign of rift between the manager and the best player in his team. However, Tevez denied such
allegations in the press by saying that he and the manager enjoy a good relationship. Despite these clarifications, the reality seems to be different and the manager would have to do something in order to avoid such things in future.
Even Kevin Davies of Bolton Wanderers had different ideas about that incident. According to him, there was something between the manager and the player as Tevez was not happy with the substitution. Apart from this, Davies slammed
Manchester City players for being over-dramatic and trying to fake a lot of fouls. In a nut shell, the Bolton striker slammed Manchester City for an embarrassing display of football.
Such kinds of incidents are very common in Manchester City and Mancini seems to be losing control over his squad. In the match against Birmingham City, a similar incident happened, when Mancini substituted Tevez with Gareth Barry.
However, at that time, the decision was not challenged by Tevez but jeered by the fans in the stadium.
There were many players who challenged Mancini's decisions, but those players were quickly sidelined by the manager. Robinho and Emmanuel Adebayor are the examples and both the players felt the wrath of Mancini as well. However,
the case of Carlos Tevez is different from the other two players. Tevez, unlike the two players, is the man in his prime form and he leads by example in big matches for Manchester City. In this scenario, the decision taken by the manager seems more precarious.
It seems that it is Mancini who is unable to handle the big players in his squad. Therefore, he often finds himself in a fix involving the big players. The squad seems to be in disarray as the manager has failed to exert his supremacy,
causing a serious predicament as City is failing to reproduce the same results week in and week out. Hence, Mancini would have to reclaim the control at Eastland if he needs to lead his team to success in the ongoing season.
