Manchester City Striker Emmanuel Adebayor claims he is heading to Juventus on loan
Manchester City’s out of favour striker Emmanuel Adebayor has announced that a loan deal has been agreed and he will be moving to Juventus when the transfer window opens in January.
The former Arsenal striker has been limited only to substitute appearances this season after the arrival of Italian Mario Balotelli from Inter Milan. This has further dropped him down in the pecking order at Eastlands.
The Togolese international has been subject to poor performances and public out bursts in recent times. This could also be one of the reasons behind his departure.
The 26-year-old arrived from Arsenal in 2009 for £25million after spending 3 years at the North London club. He is still regarded among the top strikers in the world, but clearly, his relationship with manager Roberto Mancini has
deteriorated in recent times.
Also known as, Ade, the player has publically stated his desire to leave the club in the past as well.
Adebayor told French magazine ‘Sport-Foot’, “I’m going to change my surroundings during the January transfer window.”
He added, “Man City has already reached an agreement with Juventus for a loan and I therefore expect to be able to leave soon.”
However, Adebayor’s dream move could be scraped because of non-EU quota regulations. Ade does not have an EU passport and the clubs are allowed only one non-EU player in the squad, which Juventus already have. They signed Serbian
winger Milos Krasic in the summer after giving up hope on Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko. This situation makes the move highly unlikely and the striker might have to look elsewhere.
Although the Blues have not confirmed the source of this claim, but insist the player will not be leaving the club on loan. However, looking at the striker’s number of appearances this season we can feel something is definitely
wrong. Mancini has put him in the starting line-up in only 6 games since the start of season and he has only appeared in 12 games in all competitions.
Even a hat trick in the Europa League match against Lech Poznan failed to impress the Italian. It was only a matter of time before Ade’s patience ran out and he decided to quit the Manchester Club. It seems that if a reasonable
bid for the Togolese striker is made, City will have to accept it as they would like to minimize the losses made on the player. That kind of arrangement will be suitable for both parties.
There are also reports that Turin have shifted their focus on yet another misfit player, Karim Benzema of Real Madrid, after finding out that the City player does not have an EU passport.
The 26-year-old has a habit of falling out with managers. One cannot forget his famous bust-up with Arsenal fans and Arsene Wenger, which made him a highly unpopular figure at Emirates Stadium. It seems that whenever things do
not go the striker’s way he starts issuing public tirade on his manager and club. Most recently, in September, Ade tried to engineer a move away from Eastlands. His desired destinations it seems include Juventus, AC Milan and Barcelona.
