Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini defends misfiring striker Edin Dzeko: EPL news
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has leapt to the defence of out of form striker Edin Dzeko. The Italian claims that Dzeko’s situation is similar to that of Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 believes that the Bosnian will start firing
for the club soon enough.
There were great expectations from the Bosnian hit man when he first made his way into the Barclays Premier League. Dzeko had caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe for his performances in the Bundesliga, where he was one of the most
prolific goal scorers. Manchester City paid a huge sum of money to pry the striker away from Wolfsburg, but Dzeko has so far been unable to find the form that made him such a success in the German top flight.
The striker has been criticised for his recent wastefulness in front of goal, but manager Roberto Mancini believes that the negativity aimed at Dzeko is unwarranted. The Italian compared Dzeko to Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707,
saying that the Bosnian would find his form like those Premier League stars.
Mancini told reporters, “It is difficult for him, it is also difficult for me, but it can happen when you change teams. It is important he works hard, only this. I believe Edin is one of the top strikers in Europe but sometimes incredible things happen to
strikers. You can score, you don't know why. On the other hand, [Wayne] Rooney did not score for months, the same for Torres.”
The Manchester City boss added, “This is an incredible situation for a striker. But I am sure next season Edin will be fantastic for City. Now we have six games and the FA Cup final and Dzeko can score important goals in this time."
At the moment, Manchester City are fourth in the Premier League standings. The Sky Blues are on track to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League tournament. However, their European dreams could still be shattered by fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur,
who are currently just two points behind City.
