Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini eyes Barcelona’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, determined to keep Mario Balotelli
Manchester City boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 international decided to leave the La Liga giants Barcelona for the Premier League side.
Manchester City beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 to secure a place in the top four of the English Premier League, which means they have successfully qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League and are now looking to improve their squad.
It comes as no surprise that Mancini is on the look-out for a striker, with current first team strikers Carlos Tevez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 most likely on their way out at the end of the season. In addition to that Edin Dzeko has proved to be a disappointment, while Mario Balotelli’s future with the club seems uncertain.
Former Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez made it clear he wished to leave the club during the January transfer window, going as far as handing in a transfer request. However, Mancini convinced him to stay but he is expected to demand a move away in the summer.
Adebayor joined La Liga side Real Madrid on a loan move in the January transfer window to help the Spanish outfit deal with the loss of their first choice striker Gonzalo Higuain to a long term injury. The 27-year-old could be making a more permanent move at the end of the current campaign.
The 25-year-old Edin Dzeko, undoubtedly the most overrated player in this January transfer window, arrived at City for a fee of £27 million from Wolfsburg. However, he has failed to make the expected impact, scoring just five goals so far this season.
Mancini revealed he would welcome Ibrahimovic to Manchester City, if the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 striker, currently on loan to AC Milan, wanted a move to the English Premier League side. The City boss said while speaking to reporters, “If Zlatan wants to come to City, I would immediately find him a place.”
Last but not least the troublesome Italian forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 has been linked with a move away in the summer. Even though he has done really well at the club, he still has issues with his temper which have earned him red cards in important fixtures.
However, Mancini has stuck by the 20-year-old striker, claiming he was willing to work with him to keep him at the club. Recently Balotelli also mentioned the support http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 had given him as compared to previous manager Jose Mourinho.
That could be an indication that the Italy international is willing to remain at Manchester City until after the campaign. In 23 appearances for City in all competitions Balotelli has found the back of the net 10 times.
The Italian was confident young striker Balotelli would remain at the club, he said, “He will definitely stay. Mario is an ongoing bet. He has shown he has all the right qualities, but needs to do more, much more, to give a sense to his talent.”
