Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has refused to confirm whether star striker Carlos Tevez will feature for the Sky Blues for the upcoming FA Cup final against Stoke City.
Carlos Tevez suffered a hamstring injury in the Premier League encounter against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on April 11, 2011. The striker has not made an appearance for City since that time, and he only returned to training with his teammates earlier in the week. The jury
is still out on whether he will be able to recover fully in time for the FA Cup final in less than two weeks.
Tevez himself believes that a week of training should be enough for him to regain his match fitness, but manager Roberto Mancini is not as optimistic. The Italian believes that the striker will have to feature in the crucial Premier League encounter against
Tottenham Hotspur on May 10, 2011 to prove that he is back to his best form.
Speaking on Tevez’s return to first team action, Mancini said, “If Carlos doesn't play against Tottenham, it is impossible for him to play in the FA Cup final. There is a chance but, at this moment, it is 50%. He continues to train and yesterday he did something
with us, but it is difficult to know now what is going to happen in the next week.”
“We have 10 days but I don't know. We are waiting. We hope he will recover,” added Mancini.
If the Argentine does not make in appearance in the FA Cup final against Stoke, it will only lend more credence to the rumours that he is on his way out of the club. The striker almost left in the January 2011 transfer window, but was convinced to stay after
lengthy negotiations. However, Mancini says he is not worried by the recent speculation.
Speaking on the matter, the City boss said, “It is no problem, Carlos has a contract with the club. Just now it is very important to think about the next 10 days because they are going to be very important for the club. We can speak about other things afterwards.”
Manchester City are currently in fourth place in the Premier League standings.
