Manchester City boss Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 to wait until end of season to discuss striker Carlos Tevez’s future
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini revealed he would discuss striker Carlos Tevez’s future at the end of the season, during the summer. The 27-year-old Argentine striker had previously expressed his desire to leave the Eastlands but will now be focusing
on the FA Cup final, where they take on Stoke City, and a place in the top four in the English Premier League, which will guarantee a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
In hopes of making a move in the January transfer window this year, Tevez handed in a transfer request last December. However, Mancini managed to convince the player to stay and the two are reportedly on good terms. It is rumored though that Tevez will try
and secure a move away despite being contracted to Manchester City on a long term deal.
Tevez has been linked with the liked of Serie A giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan and Juventus but has been told to wait until the end of the campaign by the City manager.
Mancini said while speaking to reporters, “We need to talk but we have time to do this. For now, it's more important to know when Carlos can play. Hopefully after we win the FA Cup and get in the Champions League we can talk about it.”
Tevez is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and the Italian manager insisted he would not risk the striker if he was not fully fit for the FA Cup final. The Italian even confirmed he would not be playing the Argentinean against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 over the
weekend in a must-win Premier League fixture if he did not think the City skipper was in top form.
The 27-year-old had travelled to Italy for treatment for his hamstring injury and has recently returned. Even though Mancini was hopeful he would be fit for the upcoming fixtures, he insisted he would not push the player.
He continued, “First he has to be 100 per cent. If we take a risk because we want to play with Carlos and he's not ready then it can be a big problem for him and for us as well.”
Tevez arrived at Manchester City from local rivals Manchester United for an estimated fee of £47 million in the summer of 2009. Into his second season at the club, Tevez has made a total of 80 appearances and scored 51 goals in all competitions. He currently
captains the club and has a guaranteed place in the starting line-up, even though his progress has been hampered by injuries.
