Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini urges Mario Balotelli to shape up
Manchester City manager Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937’s poor form in Sunday’s Premier League encounter against Fulham. Despite scoring City’s only goal, the Italian striker came under fire from his boss for giving
away possession cheaply.
The Sky Blues saw their title hopes come to a crashing halt on Sunday, after they stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Fulham. Mario Balotelli opened the scoring, before Damien Duff equalised for the Cottagers to earn his side a well deserved point at Eastlands.
With the draw, Manchester City now find themselves 10 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United. To make things even harder, the Sky Blues have played a game more than their city rivals. It seems that City’s hopes of winning their first Premier
League title in almost 50 years are well and truly over.
Unsurprisingly, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was visibly upset after the match. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan boss refused to look Fulham manager Mark Hughes in eye at the post-match handshake, prompting an angry response from the Englishman. Mancini
then took out his frustrations on City’s goal scorer Mario Balotelli, criticising the striker for an allegedly below-par performance.
Mancini said, “I am not happy with Mario. I know him very well and I know he can play better. He can play for the team. He scored a fantastic goal but there were still 70 minutes left. He can't lose the ball all the time. Every time the ball went to the
front, we didn't keep it.”
After a strong start to the campaign, Mario Balotelli has fallen out of the limelight somewhat. The striker has been sidelined in recent weeks after suffering a recurrence of a knee injury he sustained in Manchester City’s pre-season friendlies. It seems
Balotelli has not yet fully recovered from his injuries, especially considering his tired performance against Fulham.
However, despite his problems, Mario Balotelli is still one of the most promising young talents in the Premier League today. The striker was recently awarded the prestigious Golden Boy award, and he already has nine goals to his name this season.
Perhaps if he is given a bit more time to recuperate, Balotelli might find himself in Mancini’s good books once again.
