Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini warns his side against complacency
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has warned his side against complacency with four games left in the Premier League season. He has urged his players to keep working hard unless the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League
next season.
Manchester City are currently in fourth place and occupy the final European qualification spot with a total of 62 points. The Citizens are seven points ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham and are well on their way to play in the Champions
League next year.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 claimed that although the club are strong contenders to finish fourth, they cannot afford to relax until the season ends. He stated that City have to gather the maximum number of points and end the season on a high.
The Italian admitted that the club have almost cemented their place in the top four with the 2-1 win against West Ham on Sunday at the City of Manchester Stadium and said that they have thoroughly deserved the feat.
“We can only relax after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/May-22-c39884, not before. We should try to get the maximum number of points that we can. I think after what we have done, we deserve to be in the Champions League, but we have another four games - it is not finished.
We are not under pressure, but we know we have a big chance,” he was quoted.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan manager stated that Champions League was the main target for the club after heavy spending in the summer and they are close to achieving that. He also mentioned the amazing FA Cup campaign this season for
City and hoped to win the final against Stoke City at Wembley.
“Our target at the start of the season was the Champions League and now, we are in a good way. We are in fourth position and have seven points over Tottenham and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 - and we will play the FA Cup final [against Stoke on May
14],” the Italian concluded.
Manchester City will face Everton at Goodison Park in their next Premier League fixture and a win would most certainly take them to the Champions League next season.
