Manchester City boss pinpoints main Juventus threat
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has pinpointed Juventus’ main threat as he readies his men for a UEFA Europa League group stage clash with the Italians.
Mancini has talked up the talents of Serbian midfielder Milos Krasic, insisting that the 25-year-old — who moved to the Serie A club from CSKA Moscow over the summer — is Juve’s dangerman.
"They have a leader in Krasic. I know his qualities, I am not stupid. He is a great player. But we are becoming a real team, where we work and help each other for the whole 90 minutes. The progress is obvious, even though we were not playing that badly before."
He told Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport that his side would have to contain the player [Krasic] in Thursday’s match if they were to succeed, but added that his players had every chance of picking up the three points, as his side is continually
improving.
Mancini is also hoping to use the game to send out a warning to the rest of Europe, to let them know that he is building a team capable of beating anyone. City put a halt to Chelsea’s 100 percent start to the English Premier League season, when a strike
by Carlos Tevez ensured the points would stay at Eastlands.
They are bidding to prove that the win over the league leaders (and defending champions) was not a fluke result when they take on Juve, but Mancini is anticipating a tough encounter.
"I expect confirmation tomorrow in the Europa League because we are playing a great Juve team. I don't worry about the goals they have conceded, because they can always score one more."
City is at the top of their group after their 2-0 victory over Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in the first group stage match, while Juve could only draw with Polish outfit Lech Poznan.
