Manchester City chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, believes that the Sky Blues have laid the foundation for more success in the years to come after their spectacular end to the ongoing 2010-2011 domestic campaign. Now that City have ended their decades long
trophy drought, Al Mubarak believes the floodgates will open, and many more trophies will follow.
City recently won their first FA Cup title in more than forty years, and they are on track to earn automatic qualification for the Champions League. they will finish third in the Barclays Premier League standings.
The club’s chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, is more than satisfied with the way things have gone this season, but he wants the Sky Blues to use the success of this campaign as a stepping stone to reach greater heights. He believes that City can mount a serious
bid for the Barclays Premier League title next season. Not only that, he has urged his team to produce a strong showing in their debut season in the Champions League tournament.
Speaking on the matter, Al Mubarak said, “I feel we have an incredible foundation for incredible years ahead. We are one step further on a journey we started three years ago (when Sheikh Mansour took over). I am delighted at the way the team has progressed.
But our ambitions are much bigger than what has been achieved this season.
He added, “Now we are in the Champions League we need to perform and progress. It is a big challenge. We have won the FA Cup, that's great. But I believe there are a lot more cups to win - and we want to win the league.”
Manchester city are currently in third place in the Barclays Premier League standings with 68 points. A victory against Bolton Wanderers on the 22nd of May will ensure that they end the season in the same spot, earning themselves a place in the
group stages of the next season’s Champions League.
