Manchester City defender Kolo Toure praises former manager Mark Hughes
Manchester City defender Kolo Toure believes that former manager Mark Hughes deserves some of the credit for the club’s recent success. Toure claims that the Sky Blues owe a huge debt of gratitude to Hughes for his role in rebuilding the City squad after
they became the new rich kids on the block.
Mark Hughes was infamously sacked from his managerial position at Manchester City in December 2009 after leading the club to sixth place in the Premier League. The enigmatic Englishman was soon back in football though. Hughes was appointed as the Fulham
manager to replace Roy Hodgson back in the summer of 2010.
Manchester City are set to face Fulham on 27th February at Eastlands. It will be Mark Hughes first visit to his old ground since his dismissal more than a year ago, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kolo-c21278 Toure says he will welcome his former boss with open arms.
Speaking about the upcoming fixture against Fulham, Toure said, “Mark is coming back here and it will be good to see him. I’ll be pleased to see him. He signed me and I had a great time playing under him. When he left it was a bit difficult for us, for all
the players. But that’s the way football is.”
He added, “What can we do as players? We just do our job and that’s what we’ve done since.”
Even though Toure has much respect for Mark Hughes, he insisted that he would not be going easy on Fulham. The defender claimed that the feeling would be mutual, as Hughes would arrive at Eastlands with a point to prove.
Toure said, “Of course Mark will have extra motivation when he comes back. He will push his team to win and they will attack. It won’t be difficult to face him, even though he brought me to this club. My job is to try do the best for the team, like every
other player."
He wished his former manager luck ahead of the game, and said that he remained focused on getting a result for his side, to keep them within touching distance at the top of the Premier League table.
