Manchester City defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Micah-Richards-c25259 denies making outrageous wage demands
Manchester City defender and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international, Micah Richards has gone on to blast a number of newspapers, that claimed the defender was demanding a massive hundred thousand pounds a week, from City, in order to stay at the club.
The twenty three year old defender, is currently set to hold talks with the club and its officials, over the possibility of extending his current contract with the club. The defender currently has two and a half years left with City, however, the club are looking to extend that stay even further. It was previously reported that the only reason these talks got delayed, was because the defender was looking for massive wages, which he has gone on to deny.
In response to those claims, Richards recently came forth and stated: "I notice that one [newspaper] was claiming this weekend that I was demanding £100,000 per week before I sign a new contract at City"
"That is nonsense. They don't know what has been said, offered, or asked for, so instead they just make up a figure which makes everyone think that I am being greedy.
"It's annoying but I suppose it goes with the territory these days."
Over the course of the last few weeks, Richards had been linked with a number of moves out of the club. Italian side, Juventus were being rumoured to be the favourites to landing the defender, should City be willing to part ways with him. At the same time, the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 were also being linked with a potential move for the versatile defender, who has been at the club since the age of fourteen.
The defender is currently on a pre-season tour of North http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 with Manchester City and from the looks of things, he doesn’t intend on parting ways with the team any time soon.
According t most experts, it would be rather bizarre for Richards to opt to move out of City. The club have helped him develop as a player and as time progresses, he cements his spot in the team’s staring eleven, even more.
At the moment, Richards is used as either a right back, or a centre back. Both those positions have ample players to pick from at the club, however, neither of those players have the same cutting edge that Richards has.
The defender has an immaculate physic and at the same time, he is unusually quick for someone his size. Both of those mixed with his natural footballing ability, make him one of the best players in the world at the moment.
