Manchester City hit-back at Arsene Wenger regarding sponsorship comments
Manchester City have officially gone on to get back at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 manager, Arsene Wenger for his comments, which questioned the team’s intentions after they struck a sponsorship deal worth three hundred million pounds with Etihad Airways.
According to Arsene Wenger, the team had only gone on to take part in this sponsorship deal, in order to try and find a loop hole around the UEFA Fair Play policy. The team with their new source of revenue, would now be able to purchase players at a normal
pace, considering their income will almost always be constant due to the deal.
As a result of the effect that this deal is going to have on the team and it’s buying power, many people have gone on to agree with Wenger and question City’s motives. However, UEFA themselves are yet to go public with any comments regarding this situation.
Nonetheless, City seem to be intent on making everyone believe that their approach has no flaws and that the media and their various critics are just finding ways to accuse the team of wrong doing.
A spokesperson from City is quoted to have said: "The financial details of the comprehensive agreement announced last week between Manchester City and Etihad Airways remain confidential and figures being speculated about are not accurate"
"Manchester City is a pro-active member of the European Clubs Association and is working actively and with transparency with regard to Financial Fair Play.
"In light of these facts, recent comments about the partnership by some observers are unfounded and regrettable."
It seems like City’s flawless plan, to go ahead and ridicule UEFA’s Fair Play rule, is now starting to fall apart, right before their eyes.
The plan was fairly simple, the team sold their stadium’s naming rights to their sponsors, to milk in more money, in order to have a stable revenue generating into the club. This revenue would then help the team boast profits every season and by doing so,
they would be able to invest in the transfer market, to their hearts desire.
However, with almost everyone now catching air of this plan that City had been working on, it is going to be interesting to see if UEFA go ahead and allow this.
At the same time, Wenger really needs to realize that perhaps it’s not his duty to interrupt with almost every single club and their affairs. Should the manager be a little more concerned with his team, then perhaps he could help them do even better than
they already are.
