Manchester City keen on signing Valencia midfielder David Silva

The highly rated Valencia midfielder David Silva has insisted that his thoughts at this time are focused solely on Spain’s World Cup campaign. This news however hasn’t held back Manchester City from expressing there interest, will they be able to lure him to the City of Manchester?

It has been understood that City’s chief executive Gary Cook has met with Valencia president Manuel Llorente to express the interest in the £30 million-rated Spanish player.

Valencia are currently heavily in debt and the Spanish reports suggest that the club will have to sell at least two of their prize assets this summer. David Villa has already made his exit for Barcelona.

Which leaves Silva, although he has indicated that he wants to play for a club that can offer Champions League football, so chances of him actually joining City aren’t looking great?

Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus have also been linked with moves for Silva.

With all the high profile teams currently in chase, it wouldn’t be normal for Chelsea to stay out of the frame, it is understood that the Blues will also be preparing to enter the race and hope to secure a deal for less than Valencia’s £30m price tag.

The 24-year-old currently has a £28m release clause in his Valencia contract but because he only has two years left on his current agreement, insiders believe a deal could be done for around £22m.
