It is being reported that Manchester City are looking to make a shock move for Arsenal midfielder, Samir Nasri.
The French international has been having financial disagreements with the Gunners, which have resulted in contract extension talks between the player and the club to come to a halt. As a result, Nasri was being tipped to be on his way out of the club.
However, thus far, Manchester United were previously reported to be the only team in the running to potentially land the midfielder. With everyone believing that story, City seem to have come out of nowhere and are now willing to match United’s expected bid for the player. The club is well aware of the fact, that should it come down to both the teams making the exact same offer for the player, Nasri is going to opt to go to Old Trafford. As a result, City are now willing to offer the midfielder a massive hundred and eighty thousand pounds a week, which is a salary that United might not be able to pay.
Arsene Wenger on the other hand, is going to be trying his level best to agree on mutual terms with Nasri, in order to get the midfielder to stick around the Emirates. Nasri was easily one of the best players on display for the Gunners last season, which is why it is rather surprising to see the team being so reluctant on offering the midfielder the wages that he is demanding.
According to numerous sources, it is also being reported that Nasri’s representatives have already gone ahead and held an initial meeting with City, over what the team is willing to offer the player.
So far, there has been no word from Nasri or City regarding this move going through for certain. However, what can be said assuredly, is that if Arsenal don’t step up their negotiations with Nasri, they are bound to lose the midfielder in the near future.
