Roberto Mancini, manager of Manchester City, has admitted that his in-form striker Mario Balotelli is suffering from homesickness, but believes the Italian will not be leaving the club.
"Maybe he is homesick but I don't think it's a long-term problem. He is 20, has left his family for the first time - it's normal to miss them," said Mancini.
"I am happy even if journalists say I want to leave," added Balotelli, referring to rumours in the media that he wishes to leave Manchester City.
The Italian striker scored a brilliant hat-trick during City’s 4-0 win against Aston Villa on Tuesday. The win propelled City to top of the table for a few hours, before Manchester United got a point from a draw against Birmingham
and reclaimed the top spot.
Manchester City dominated the match against Aston Villa from start to finish. Balotelli easily scored off two penalties and got his third with an easy tap in from virtually the mouth of the goal.
The 20-year-old Italian has developed a reputation for not being able to blend in with the team. The Italian normally has a very serious demeanour and does not show much emotion on the pitch.
"I am always happy, even when I don't smile. I feel a striker has to score. It is my job. That is why I don't smile," Balotelli told the club website.
Carlos Tevez, the man who has been leading the City attack this season, was given a rest for this game. Hence it was Mario Balotelli who started the game as the lone striker, and finally put on a display worthy of the reputation
he brought with him when he came to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
Mancini was clearly very impressed, and said that it is very important for his team to keep hold of Balotelli.
“It is very important to keep him. He is a very good player and he can improve a lot,” said http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323. “I think it is very important for the guys to help Mario. This season is a very important experience for him. If he plays like
he did today he can be one of the top players in Europe.”
Balotelli, who was awarded the Golden Boy trophy last week, has scored eight times in 11 appearances since transferring to City from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan for £24m this summer.
