Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini does not plan to sign a backup goalkeeper
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed that he will not sign a backup goalkeeper for Joe Hart after losing his second-choice keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shay-Given-c33284 for rest of the 2010-11 season due to a shoulder injury.
Shay Given was expected to start in the first leg of Manchester City’s Europa League fixture against Aris Salonika but was withdrawn after he sustained an injury during the warm-up.
Manchester City were dealt a huge below when it was confirmed that their veteran goalkeeper, Shay Given would need an operation to resolve his shoulder injury- ruling the 34-year-old out for the remainder of the season.
Moreover, Manchester City’s reserve keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gunnar-Nielsen-c15377 also ruptured his knee ligament during the reserve game recently and has been sidelined for four weeks.

Manchester City faced the same situation in the previous season as well, when Shay Given suffered a shoulder injury in March and was ruled out for rest of the season. The Citizens failed to recall Joe Hart from Birmingham City and ended up with signing Sunderland’s
goalkeeper Marton Fulop on loan.

He said, “Last year we were unlucky. It is impossible that we will be unlucky like that again. Joe is young. I hope he will be strong and can play all the games until the end. I am not going to try and loan someone.”
Manchester City have a daunting task ahead of them, as they have jam-packed schedule for March 2011 in which they have to play 6 matches.
