Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, is looking to make early inroads in the summer transfer market to challenge for English Premier League next season.
City had a wonderful 2010/11 season and finished third on the league table, equal on points with second placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s side. After qualifying for UEFA Champions League for
the first time in their history, the Citizens are looking to win the Premier League next season.
The Citizens ended their 35-year trophy drought by winning this season’s FA Cup, where they beat Stoke City 1-0 in the final.  Mancini is expecting to get the same financial backing from the owners which they have done in previous years.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan manager admitted that he has shortlisted the candidates he wants at the club and will try to sign them as soon as possible. City have been heavily criticized for paying over the odds for players after they splashed millions on Mario
Balotelli, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Silva-c10601 and Edin Dzeko this season.
Mancini wants to bring superstars in the club and he will try his best to beat United to the title next season. The Italian insists that he will add quality backups for the squad because he saw this year that Tottenham Hotspur suffered a lot from lack of
bench strength and focused their energies on Champions League only.
When asked on whether his team can challenge United for the title, Mancini said, "Why not? But it is important we have all the new players in position for pre-season. Last year we had some players join five days before the start of the campaign, which did
not help us. That is why we want to do business early this summer."
"Tottenham this year put all their strength into the Champions League and lost many points in the Premier League. For this we need good players, many players for these competitions. In football if you don't spend you don't win."
The former Sampdoria midfielder is looking to sign a few experienced individuals to his squad, who can help the team to be successful in the Champions League.
