Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini happy to see Wayne Rooney banned for FA Cup semi-final
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is delighted to see Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736’s two-match ban being upheld by the tribunal after the player appealed against it recently.
Rooney was handed a two-game ban by the Football Association for using foul language in front of the camera after completing his hat-trick in a 4-2 win over West Ham United on Saturday. Rooney appealed against the ban but the tribunal decided that he should
be punished for the act.
Rooney will miss the English Premier League game against Fulham at the weekend and semi-final of the FA Cup against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s Manchester City. Rooney scored a lovely overhead kick-winning goal against City when the two sides met earlier in the ongoing 2010-11
season at Old Trafford.
The Italian tactician believes that Rooney is the main threat to his FA Cup winning ambitions and he is delighted to see the striker miss the game.
Mancini said, “At this moment Rooney is not 100 per cent, he is playing at 200 per cent. But if he can't play, okay! We know he can change a game at any moment like when we played at Old Trafford this year. That day we deserved to draw or to win and Rooney
scored a fantastic goal.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan manager reckons that United are still a top side and they have enough quality in their ranks to replace Rooney.
He said, “United is a strong team, even without Rooney. Will it improve our chances? No, I don't think that. I still think it will be a very good game without Rooney.”
Rooney has been in superb goal scoring form of late and inspired United to a remarkable comeback win against West Ham United at the weekend.
City were challenging United for the Premier League title for a major part of the season but their inconsistent form of late has seen them drift the League leaders by 13 points. Their only hope of winning the silverware rests with the FA Cup now.
