Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini hopeful Carlos Tevez can prove his metal in time for the FA Cup Final
Roberto Mancini is hoping that Carlos Tevez can prove his fitness in time ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Stoke City in the FA Cup final on Saturday evening.
The Argentine striker was on the sidelines for four months due to a hamstring injury. Despite being out of action for so long, Tevez is still the leading scorer for his club this season and his return can give the Citizens a major boost as they look to end
their 35-year trophy drought.
The Manchester City captain has been impressive in training since his return and also came on as late substitute against Tottenham in midweek – A game that the Blues won 1-0.
Turning back to the Tevez fitness dilemma, the City boss is not sure yet whether he will let his club captain play a part in the final.
''I don't know if he can play some part. We will decide on Carlos on Saturday morning,” said the Italian manager.
Both sides go into the match in impressive form. Manchester City clinched qualification for UEFA Champions league while Stoke City defeated Arsene Wenger’s side 3-1 at home.
With their star studded squad, Manchester City seem to be the favourites to win their 5th FA cup title but Robert Mancini has warned his players of complacency and told them that the match with the Potters is going to be more difficult than their semifinal
against Manchester United.
Tony Pulis’ side, which has surprised many by reaching this far in the competition, believes it can cause another upset and go all the way in this year’s tournament.
He commented, "We are looking forward to this game. We have had three years of proving we can do what people think we can't. I don't think there have been many teams who have got into the final of a cup competition and then had a run of results like we have
had."
Whether it is going to be a Carlos Tevez spectacular or a Rory Delap special, remains to be seen.
