Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, has called on Mario Balotelli to shine for his side as the Citizens face derby rivals, Manchester United, in the all important FA Cup semi-final on 16th April, 2011.
The FA Cup is the only chance of silverware for the high spending City this season and the club are desperate to end their 35-year trophy drought.
It is reported that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
Mancini is likely to start Balotelli in absence of Tevez and will be hoping that Balotelli can deliver for the Citizens.
He said, "Mario knows he must take more responsibility. We have six league games, plus the semi-final and the final. I hope Mario can score important goals.”
"He could be the hero. On Saturday, if he plays, he has a chance to do well. Maybe if he scores a goal it could take us to the final. That would change his year." added the Italian.
Balotelli has had a mixed start to life with the Citizens since his arrival from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan last year. The 20-year-old has scored 10 goals for City in the ongoing 2010-11 campaign, but injuries and behavioral issues have kept the Italian in the spot light
for the wrong reasons.
The former Inter Milan striker had a day to forget in City’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Monday night. Balotelli’s performance against the Reds was so disappointing that the player ended up being substituted even though he had replaced the injured
Tevez, certainly not the ideal the ideal preparation going into the FA Cup semi-final.
The former Inter Milan tactician is having problems with his striker force, as Edin Dzeko is also struggling with lack of form following his 27 million-pound transfer from German side, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881. The Bosnian has scored a measly four goals for the Citizens
all in Cup competitions, while his league account remains barren.
Mancini said, “We need Dzeko to be good now, He has the same problem that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Dzeko is a fantastic striker but when you join a team in January, he has new team-mates and a new manager with new methods."
