Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has called on his players to put their dismal showing against Liverpool in the Premier League behind them and concentrate fully on the impending FA Cup semi-final encounter against bitter rivals Manchester United.
The two clubs are set to go head-to-head at Wembley on Sunday, in what promises to be an enthralling contest. Manchester United are looking for a win to keep their treble dreams alive, while City will see the FA Cup as their last chance of winning silverware
this season. Both sides have different motivations to go all the way to the trophy, but it will ultimately go down to which club wants it more.
With their current form, Manchester United are clear favourites to overcome their rivals in the semi-final. The Red Devils have had a stellar campaign so far, but as always, they have saved their best form for the final few weeks of the season. United look
unstoppable at the moment, having recently booked their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League with a convincing 3-1 aggregate victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
In stark contrast, Manchester City’s season is in danger of unraveling. Their 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool a few days ago has raised some question marks over their ability to cope with pressure. Perhaps they were hampered somewhat by the injury
to star striker Carlos Tevez, but City manager Roberto Mancini is not using that as an excuse for his side’s terrible display.
However, the Italian has told his charges to get over their drubbing at Anfield and concentrate on the FA Cup. He claims that it was strange for his squad to perform so poorly, but believes it is good that they hit their lowest patch this season before playing
Manchester United.
Mancini said, “It is the first time in a year that we played like that. And it was better to happen at Liverpool than on Saturday. When we started the season our target was to reach the Champions League and try to win a trophy. We are one month away from
the end of the season and we are in a good way. Now it depends on us - at this moment, we should be happy."
Manchester City are currently in fourth place in the Barclays Premier League standings.
