Manchester City midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips wants to remain at Eastland – EPL news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shaun-Wright-Phillips-c33277 has said that he wants to remain at Eastlands despite rumours linking him away from the club.
A product of Manchester City youth academy, Wright-Phillips has spent his whole career with the Citizens with the exception of three seasons where he played for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
At present, the 29-year-old seems to be ‘out of favour’ with City manager Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323. The Englishman so far has just made 6 appearances for the club in the ongoing 2010-11 Premier League season.
Lack of appearances this season has been frustrating for the player, however, Wright-Phillips remains adamant that he is willing to fight for his place in the City’s starting line-up.
He told club’s official website, “It feels like I am part of the furniture here, I would love to retire a City player and I have my fingers crossed it is something that can still happen.”
Manchester City are having a fantastic season. Currently, the Eastlanders are placed third in the Premier League table after accumulating 56 points from 31 matches. City are also through to the FA Cup semi-final where they face derby rivals Manchester United.
Wright-Phillips maintains that the crunch clash against the Red Devils is very important for his side and City should look to go all the way to win the trophy.
He added, “I want to fulfil a lifelong dream and help win a trophy for our fans, I wouldn't just want to beat United and then lose in the final - we need to get to the final and win it. If I could play even a small part of making that happen, I would be
a happy man.”
Manchester City are again lining up a big budget for the summer transfer market. With new players likely to join the club, Wright-Phillips’s wish of a regular place in the City’s starting eleven looks unlikely.
