Manchester City rift rumours slammed by Roberto Mancini
Rumours of tensions in the Manchester City dressing room have been slammed by the English Premier League club’s manager Roberto Mancini.
Newspaper reports have suggested that Mancini has been at odds with his captain Carlos Tevez, while other players are said to be unhappy with each other and Mancini’s style of coaching.
But the Italian has defended the club against the rumours, claiming them to be lies.
According to BBC, he stated, "If there is someone who wants to write these lies, they can do. I'm happy for them, but it is not true. If we want to achieve our target, we must ignore this and continue to work."
Mancini also took the opportunity to defend his club’s recent record in the league. City lost 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, 30 October, following on from a 3-0 defeat at home to EPL title rivals Arsenal.
"We are in fourth place in the table, we have started the season very well. OK, we lost against Wolves, but that can happen sometimes."
City had high expectations following another summer of heavy spending, where an outlay of over £125m saw them bring in the likes of Mario Balotelli, Yaya Youre, David Silva and James Milner. But all has not quite gone to plan.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Vincent Kompany were seen exchanging heated words during the loss to Wolves, while Toure and Milner were reported to have had an argument at half-time during the Arsenal game.
Milner has dismissed claims that there is a negative atmosphere in the City camp. "You would be worried if there wasn't that hunger and desire to win — everyone is desperate to do as well as they can and win trophies.
"Every week you will see changing rooms up and down the country where people are saying things and people are disagreeing. But as soon as you step off that football field at the end of the game, it is all forgotten - you are together again, you are a team.
"As long as there isn't a problem after the game, and there never is, we are a tight group, then the nonsense written in the papers just brings you closer together."
