Manchester City saga continues as Mancini up to meet Carlos Tevez
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is to meet Carlos Tevez on Friday to discuss the striker's future at the club, and hopes that the 26-year-old striker will be around when the next round of Europa League resumes in February.
Tevez had tabled a transfer request to the club last week, after he said his relations with certain executives at the club was beyond repair. He was not present in the contest against Juventus, when City finished top of Group A after a 1-1 draw at the Stadio
Olimpico on Thursday night. The team and manager Mancini left Turin straight away, as he is scheduled to meet the Argentinean International at the Carrington training complex.
Kia Joorabchian, the third party agent for player transfer and club agreements, fired some acrimonious statements against the Chief Executive of Manchester City Gary Cook last week. He said that Cook thinks he is bigger than Carlos, and also threatened to
expose the e-mails that City sent the Argentinean striker in a chronological order. Tevez was said to be upset with Cook and Marwood, and came out and said he wanted to move on because he misses his family.
Mancini believed that he hadn’t faced this kind of situation before, and this could happen to any English or Italian club. He is up to talk to Tevez and understand what he wants, and he thinks the saga will end in next two days. When he was asked about Tevez’s
expected participation in an important clash on Monday, Roberto Mancini replied, ‘Yes, Why not’.
He also expressed that Tevez is well trained and doesn’t have any problem. He added, “We have a very important game on Monday and I want all my players there, 100 percent.” Mancini wants Tevez to feature in Monday’s game against Everton to be played at the
City of Manchester Stadium. He made nine changes to the squad against Juventus, and was pretty happy to finish at the top of the group.
He added, “We have a chance to go all the way but it is important to have a good draw for the next round after that we will see. Juventus are a good side and we started extremely well and it was strange to concede the goal. But we played very well and for
me only this is important. I did not expect to play against such a strong Juventus squad but our players played with good character and we expect to carry on like this.”
