Manchester City sign Yaya Touré
Manchester City have signed the Ivory Coast international midfielder Yaya Touré on a five-year deal.
Touré moves to Eastlands from Barcelona for a fee in the region of £24million, and will team up with his older brother Kolo – City’s captain – in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old won the Champions League and two La Liga titles in his three-year stint with Barça, but had slipped down the pecking order at the Nou Camp.
“This is another fantastic signing for Manchester City,” said manager Roberto Mancini, “and I am very pleased Yaya has joined us, he is a very good player.
“Everyone knows Yaya is a player that we have admired for a long time, and we would like to welcome him to Manchester City. He has played at the top level with Barcelona and I am sure he his experience and ability will be very important for us.”
