Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez ruled out for one month
Manchester City boss Robert Mancini has confirmed that the skipper Carlos Tevez will surely miss the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against their local rivals Manchester United at Wembley and also ruled out the Argentinian international for at least four weeks.
Carlo Tevez pulled his hamstring during Manchester City’s embarrassing defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and was replaced after only playing 15 minutes.
Roberto Mancini confirmed, “Tevez is not available for Saturday. I think he will recover in three or four weeks. It is a big problem but we can't take any risks.”
Carlos Tevez has been one of the stand-out performers for Manchester City this season and his absence could potentially hurt City’s bid for UEFA Champions League qualification. Manchester City are currently placed fourth in the Barclays Premier League standings,
only three points clear of fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur, who also have a game in hand.
There are six matches to go for Manchester City and Roberto Mancini is hopeful that his skipper Carlo Tevez would be available for the last two matches, one of which is against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Italian boss added, “After this game we have another six, so hopefully we have him for the last two or three matches. Every player knows this is an important moment for the club.”
Moreover, Manchester City are looking to make it through to their first final of the FA Cup since 1966, but for that they would have to overcome their local rivals Manchester United. As the absence of Carlo Tevez has been confirmed, Roberto Mancini has yet
to decide as to whether Edin Dzeko or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 will start for City at Wembley.
Roberto Mancini added, “I have not decided the first XI, we have another 48 hours. Mario, or Edin, or both players - they both have an important chance. I trust my players.”
Manchester City have failed to defeat Manchester United in the ongoing 2010-11 season. The Citizens endured a goalless draw in a home fixture against Sir Alex Ferguson and were defeated at Old Trafford. Now, Manchester City would have to play their best
football in order to overcome Manchester United at Wembley.
