Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko receives praises from coach Roberto Mancini – EPL news
Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has received a bundle of praises from his manager Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385.
The match was played on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Ewood Park. The Citizens notched up a hard-fought win courtesy a solitary goal from City’s 27-million-pound man.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan boss hailed the performance of the striker who had to wait for a long time to score his first League goal for the club. City were made to work hard in order to get the most important goal of their campaign in front of a resilient Blackburn
defence.
Mancini admitted that the 25-year-old striker has had a difficult time until now and has taken a bit longer then expected to adapt to English football. However, he was pleased to see Dzeko’s name in the score sheet and hoped that the striker would continue
his form in the remaining Premier League games and in the important FA Cup final against Stoke City.
“Edin is a fantastic striker,” Mancini said. “He had some problems because he didn’t play more games in the past, he had some difficulties because he didn’t score, but I think that this evening he scored an important goal for us and for him. He deserved
to score because he is a good striker and a good guy. I enjoyed [the goal] for him because he deserved to score this important goal for us.”
City had to win in order to strengthen their chances of finishing in the top four but Blackburn kept them at bay until the 75th minute. It was the time when the Citizens started feeling the pressure and eventually it was the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881
striker who saved City’s blushes after coming on as a substitute in the 72nd minute.
Mancini added, “The second half was difficult because to play long ball is difficult, he added. Every ball that arrives in the box could be a problem, if you play against a team like Blackburn it is important we fight on every ball, very important we win
in a different way in the second half. A top squad would win a game like tonight, when maybe you can’t play, we played well in the second half, and we had a different way to win.”
Manchester City are fourth in the League table with 59 points and look all set to grab that last UEFA Champions League spot with five games in hand.
Tottenham Hotspur and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are City’s closest rivals in that chase for the fourth place.
