Manchester City striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-Santa-Cruz-c31778 wishes to make Blackburn Rovers loan move permanent
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paraguay-c2979 international made a £17.5 million move to Manchester City from Blackburn Rovers in 2009, but
after just a season and a half; he is determined to return to the Rovers.
Santa Cruz joined the Rovers from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in 2007 for a fee of £3.5 million. He was an instant hit at Ewood Park and was named the Player of the Month in December, just a few months after joining the club.
In his first season he made 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and providing 8 assists. The Paraguayan’s highly successful season led to various rumors linking him to top European sides, but he squashed the speculation by signing a long
term contract with Blackburn.
The four-year-old contract he signed with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season did not prepare anyone for his move to the Eastlands just a short 12 months later. Even though the initial sum demanded by Blackburn was £25 million, they eventually
settled for £17.5 million.
The Paraguayan forward did not quite make the start he had expected at Manchester City, repeated injuries kept him out for the better part of the season. He did go on to make 22 appearances but his lack of form kept him on the bench most of the season, and
he only scored 4 goals.
In his second season at the Eastlands Santa Cruz decided to make a move on a loan move and was linked with a move to S. S. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775. When the move to the Italian outfit failed, there was an offer from former side Blackburn Rovers, which the striker gladly accepted.
Rejoining the club in the January transfer window of 2011, Santa Cruz has rediscovered his form and said he wished to remain at Ewood Park. Since then he has made six appearances for the Rovers and has been a regular in the first team.
Santa Cruz said while speaking to reporters, “Everyone knows that I am very happy at Blackburn, I have a lot of friends. I have enjoyed my time here so it would be a great thing for me if I could stay but it is up to the club and City so we need to see what
will happen.”
Santa Cruz’s main concern was the lack of first team football at Manchester City; he had to compete with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Felipe-Caicedo-c13525. While some of the forwards are currently on loan, they are expected to
return shortly.
The 29-year-old striker continued, “As a player you expect and want to play and of course when you come to my age you want to enjoy the last bit of football that you have left. I don't want to spend the rest of my career not playing. So that is the main
consideration for me.”
The Manchester City boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 is not particularly interested in Santa Cruz, having agreed to let him make a return to Blackburn in the winter transfer window. However, he might not agree on a permanent move since his regular strikers, Adebayor
and Tevez could be leaving at the end of the season.
