Manchester City to make a move for Rooney despite him renewing his contract
Manchester City are currently busy contemplating a move for Manchester United’s striker Wayne Rooney despite the player having penned in a new five year contract with United earlier this month.
City are reported to be contemplating to spending as much as sixty million pounds for the twenty five year old striker who is currently suffering from a giant slump in his form. City are well aware of the fact that the striker,
who inked a new deal with the team, is currently suffering from a personal rift that has formed between him and the team’s manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. They are also planning to use this personal rift as the major reason to draw the player away from Old Trafford.
Prior to signing a new contract with Manchester United, Rooney looked to be on the verge of walking out of the club. The player went as far as to say that the club lacked any and all ambition and would not win anything in the near
future according to his assessment. However, Alex Ferguson worked his charm and convinced the prolific striker to pen in a new five year deal with the team. In spite of that, it is widely being speculated that the striker, is still out in the cold with the
manager and his team mates due to his actions. Neither of the players is reportedly willing to let the striker get off easy with what he did and the striker is well aware of this fact. However, the biggest blow that the striker has felt is the fallout that
he has had with the team’s fans. The fans that once loved and cherished the player have now turned their back on him following his actions.
If the player follows in the steps of Cristiano Ronaldo then it is safe to say that he will be on his way out of the team. Ronaldo managed to pen in a big money contract with Manchester United, but he then went on to sign a contract
with Real Madrid only a couple of months later.
City are also keen to bring a ‘Marquee’ signing to help with the team’s push to rise to the top of the English Premier League table. The team has managed to go from being a mid-table team to becoming one of the leading title contenders
in the league.
However, what Rooney needs to take into account is the fact that if he does move to United’s biggest rivals, who just so happen to be Manchester City, then not only will he prove to be one of the most dishonest and disloyal players
of all time, but he will also face the wrath of a whole new level of hatred from the team’s fans.
That being said, Rooney has already surprised the footballing world in the past by going to the press and stating that he no longer wished to be a part of United in the past, so most experts feel that he will not think twice before
making a big money switch to another team if the offer was made worth his while.
With teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona also being in contention to sign the player, it is still not a sure shot that he will join Manchester City, but what can be said with certainty is that City have all the right resources
to make an offer worth both the player and the team’s while.
