Manchester City to offload Roque Santa Cruz and Shaun Wright Phillips
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-Santa-Cruz-c31778 and Shaun Wright Phillips are likely to leave the club in the current transfer window.
Santa Cruz, who joined Manchester City after a successful spell at Ewood Park, is likely to return to the club where he first made his mark in English football. He is expected to be Steve Kean’s first signing as the Blackburn manager.
Meanwhile, Shaun Wright Phillips has plenty of options up his sleeve, with Fulham, Birmingham City and West Ham United all chasing the signature of former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 man.
However, Mancini is reluctant to let go Emanuel Adebayor after Mario Balotelli suffered another injury setback. If the Togo international leaves in January, it will leave Mancini with only Carlos Tevez and new man Edin Dzeko as the two recognised strikers.
Both Shaun Wright Phillips and Santa Cruz were signed by Mark Hughes during his tenure at Manchester City. They have now fallen out of favour with current boss Mancini, who has brought in even bigger names since his arrival at the club.
Wright Phillips might be tempted to re-link with former boss, Mark Hughes, at Fulham.
Santa Cruz’s career at City has been hampered by injuries. He has made only 24 appearances for the club in two seasons, with 16 of them being from the bench.
The Paraguayan striker, who scored 23 goals in 2007/08 season for Blackburn Rovers, is willing to return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 even if it’s on a loan deal.
Mancini told the reporters, “Roque will probably go to Blackburn, every player wants to play. I understand that. But it is difficult for me."
"If an opportunity for either of them to play came up, then it would be better for them and I hope for Roque that in one or two days, he will have that. It is the same situation for Roque and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shaun-Wright-Phillips-c33277. He has two or three options," said the
Manchester City boss.
Emanuel Adebayor’s situation is a bit more complicated and a lot depends on the extent of the injury suffered by Mario Balotelli. If the Italian is required to have yet another surgery than it is more than likely that Mancini will keep Adebayor at the club
at least until summer.
Adebayor too has no shortage of suitors with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 international.
"A lot of teams want Emmanuel but at the moment we have to wait for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323.
"Maybe http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manu-c23375 will leave but we have another 20 days, so we have time to make a decision. If we lose three or four, we might end up in a situation where we don't have enough players for the remainder of the season."
