Manchester City transfer rumours, Manchester City transfer news
Manchester City have agreed a deal with Valencia for the transfer of their Spanish international midfielder David Silva.
The 24-year-old, who is currently representing his country at the World Cup in South Africa, will sign a five-year contract after the tournament, and leaves Valencia after six years at the club for a fee believed to be in the region of £28million.
“I have enjoyed six years at Valencia, they discovered me as a footballer and they will always be a special club for me,” Silva told City’s official website.
“The time is right for me to seek a new challenge, and I am thrilled about playing in England with Manchester City. I believe the Premier League is one of the best competitions in the world and I want to bring success to City and win trophies for them.”
Silva may not be the only imminent arrival at Eastlands from Spain’s La Liga, with Barcelona’s Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Touré – the younger brother of City captain Kolo – also tipped to complete a move to the Premier League side in the coming days.
Elsewhere, Wolfsburg have reportedly stunned City by slapping a £50million price tag on their Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko, while the north west club are also thought to be in the market for Aston Villa’s £44million-rated duo James Milner and Gabriel Agbonlahor, and are even exploring an option to bring in Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan, who had a loan spell at Everton last season.
Manager Roberto Mancini meanwhile, has insisted that striker Carlos Tévez will stay at the club despite interest from Real Madrid.
