Manchester City update: Carlos Tevez back to training sessions but not pleased with club
The feud between Carlos Tevez and Manchester City has not subsided but the Blues’ skipper has returned to training sessions for now. The t*t-for-tat saga began after the Manchester City skipper expressed his desire to leave the
club. Over the past few months, the former Boca Juniors player had talked about missing his family and even returned to Argentina for a short while when he encountered injury problems.
Manchester City announced on Sunday that they had rejected a transfer request from Tevez, and expressed disappointment in the actions of his representative. In response, Tevez issued a statement of his own.
“I can confirm I have handed a transfer request to the chairman of Manchester City Football Club," said the 26-year-old Argentinean striker in a statement on Sunday night. “Now I need to clear my head and think because this is
an important part of my career. My feelings have not changed and it is regrettable that we have reached this situation. But it is something I have felt for some time and have spent many hours thinking this through."
Tevez revealed that he had wanted to leave the club this summer but was convinced to stay. He added, "I am disappointed that the management should now see fit to try to portray the situation in another light. My relationship with
certain executives and individuals at the club has broken down and is now beyond repair. I do not wish to expand on this at this stage. They know, because I have told them. Unfortunately, my feelings have not changed.”
The skipper has nevertheless returned to training with the Eastlands outfit, although he will miss its Europa League contest with Juventus. Manager Roberto Mancini has already left for Italy to prepare for the game, but is reported
to be scheduled for a meeting with Tevez on Friday.
Meanwhile, Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli will also not be travelling to Turin for the Blues’ game against Juventus, as Mancini wishes to protect the youngster from an almost certain repeat of the racist abuse hurled at
Balotelli by Juventus fans last year.
