Manchester City versus Manchester United – Community Shield: Second half review (Part 1)
Manchester City started the second half with no changed at the half time break but United made two quick changes at the half time break with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 and Michael
Carrick making way for the youngsters. There was an immediate spring in the Manchester United step following the introduction of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 in the midfield area. His drive and energy proved to be a perfect complement to Anderson’s work ethic and this was soon evident
as Manchester United maintained a monopoly over ball possession right from the start of the second half.
In the 50th minute, Cleverley sneaked past both Silva and De Jong in the midfield area before dinking a ball towards Welbeck inside the Manchester City penalty area. However the Manchester United striker was unable to
head the ball into the Manchester City goal. It was a wonderful chance to score for Welbeck who failed to hit the target with his header as the score line remained at two nil to Manchester City. In the 52nd minute of the encounter, Young finally
produced an immaculate deliver into the Manchester City penalty area for Manchester United.
The former Aston Villa man took the game by the scruff of the neck and drifted a ball in behind the Manchester City defence for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Smalling to tap in for the Red Devils. Smalling evaded Lescott’s attentions inside the Manchester
City penalty area which allowed him to easily tap in Ashley Young’s cross. With Smalling’s first and Manchester United’s opening goal of the match, United came back into the encounter emphatically. The Red Devils were already dominating the match as a whole
courtesy of the introduction of Tomas Cleverley and now they had a goal to build upon against their local rivals.
In the 53rd minute of the match, Manchester United were ushered forward by Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299 as the winger had swapped wings with Ashley Young who was now playing on the right hand side. Nani’s trickery and pace forced Milner
into committing a dangerous challenge on the Portuguese midfielder. The referee spotted this infringement and duly produced a yellow card for the former Aston Villa midfielder who was lacklustre in the first half and disappointing in the second one as well.
Ashley Young stepped up to take the set piece again but this time the former Watford winger was unable to steer the ball past the City wall and he failed to hit the target with the rebound as well as the ball went out of play for
a goal kick as the score line remained at two goals to one, in favour of the Citizens.
