Manchester City vs. Arsenal- 1st part Analysis
It was a very stormy and ill tempered first half at Eastlands that saw Arsenal score in the first 45 minutes of the match to acquire the first goal against Manchester City. There were plenty of bad tackles from both sides and plenty to
talk about, including a missed penalty from Cesc Fabregas a red card for City and much more.
As the match kicked off it became apparent that this was no regular match and much drama was expected. Carlos Tevez skinned Johan Djourou down the City right and sent over a low cross that David Silva brilliantly flicked through his legs
and towards the goal but Lukasz Fabianski got down really smartly and made a fine save.
After constant Man City pressure, the home team were down to 10 men. Cesc Fabregas slid a lovely pass through to Marouane Chamakh and Dedryck Boyata in a panic state decided to go hard and fouled him - the referee had no choice but to
show a straight red as per the latter of the law.
Arsenal also received their first booking as Denilson denied City the chance to counter-attack following a corner with a late slide on Carlos Tevez. Moments later, Nigel do Jong seemed to take Cesc Fabregas out, but the referee did not
even give a free-kick. There sure were some rubbish challenges from Eastlands as soon after Gareth Barry took Cesc Fabregas out and he was booked.
Apart from the bad tackles there was still a football match going on at the City of Manchester Stadium. Man City almost created a real chance for Carlos Tevez, after David Silva's clever flick on the edge of the Arsenal box, however the
Argentine was on the stretch and his weak effort was easily saved by Lukasz Fabianski.
Finally though it was first blood to the away side as Bacary Sagna found Samir Nasri just outside the City area, and he played a lovely one-two with Andrey Arshavin and fired past the advancing Joe Hart from eight yards.  It as a lovely
finish and it was 7 goals in 7 games for the French midfielder.
Man City with 10 men were up against the play making Gunners but still fought hard to gain possession of the ball and attack on the counter, however they were stopped dead in their tracks one too many times. This continued as the Home
team broke with pace and Cesc Fabregas took Nigel de Jong out and got a booking in the process.
The bad tackles though did not stop as Cesc Fabregas touched Bacary Sagna’s pass first inside the City box and Vincent Kompany brought him down, it was a definite penalty. Fabregas stepped up himself, but Joe Hart dived away to his left
to pull off a fantastic save.
That was the third penalty miss for Arsenal this season, however Arsene Wenger would be hoping that his team does not rue missing the spot kick as they ended the first half with a 1-0 lead which really should have been 2.
