Manchester City vs. Everton: Fantasy Premier League Picks – Gameweek 6
Another weekend of Barclays Premier League football is almost upon football worshipping community and managers, both in the real world as well as in the world of Fantasy Football. With the level of anticipation on a high, managers are looking to see which
players to include in their squads for upcoming matches.
For now at least, it is time to look at two teams who could prove to be a match for each other, Manchester City and Everton.
Overview
Manchester City were on fire in the Barclays Premier League, but it seems that they faced a minor speed bump on the previous weekend (Gameweek 5) as they lost a two goal lead and drew away at Fulham.
No amount of superstar power seemed to be able to prevent the London side from clawing their way back into the match and snatching a point.
Everton, on the other hand, are on the up after a convincing 3-1 win over Wigan Athletic, with defender Phil Jagielka stealing the show for the home side.
It is a tough call between the two sides if one was to take the previous match as the basis of a decision. Manchester City seems to have too much talent to fall to the same kind of mistake twice over the space of two weekends.
Goal Keeper
The fact that Joe Hart conceded two goals against Fulham was a shock to everyone, especially for the 20.2% of managers who had him in their sides. However, one can easily term it a blip in form and a wakeup call of sorts.
On the other hand, managers have the option of choosing Tim Howard, Everton’s Goal Keeper, but before one brings the American Goal Keeper into their Fantasy Premier League side, it is best they ask themselves a question: Can Tim Howard keep a clean sheet
against the likes of Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and David Silva.
If the answer is yes, then you are either a very brave man or a very non-intelligent football pundit. Joe Hart should be a solid choice if managers are looking to field a keeper for the overall Gameweek.
Defenders
Again, Manchester City’s back four have been solid as a rock over the past few Gameweeks, excluding Gameweek 5, with as much attacking flair in their ranks as defensive stability. On the other hand, Everton’s back line are known to get points, albeit on
a very inconsistent basis, as well.
Gael Clichy would be our pick, despite his poor form as he is both attack-minded and strong at the back as well.
Midfielders
A tough choice this one, but with Everton having to play until extra time in their Carling Cup 3rd Round match, Fatigue is a factor Fantasy Premier League managers should concern themselves with.
On the basis of that and the considerable in depth strength that Manchester City posses, midfield options from City seem a safer option.
David Silva is a favourite of Bettor.com Fantasy Premier League pundits, though Samir Nasri is slowly shaping himself into a more prominent player for the club.
Strikers
One word: Sergio Aguero. Ok, so that may be two words, but we are sure the reader gets the picture. With 30 points from two games and his ability to get on the end of and finish every Manchester City move, Aguero is a player every manager fantasises about
having in their squad.
Our pick from the match has to be Sergio Aguero, as there is nothing that would make us consider otherwise, apart from Roberto Mancini’s habit of rotating his best players.
