Manchester City vs. Wigan Athletic- Fantasy Premier League Preview: Gameweek 4
When it comes to picking players from Manchester City for our Fantasy Premier League squad, is the time when we curse the three players from each team cap rule.
The entire squad is worthy of a place in any fantasy team and it is more a case of choosing which three players one wants in their squad as they all seem to earn points in the dozens. Couple, the star power with their devastating form of late and you have
one of the best teams for managers to pick their players from.
On the other hand, Wigan is sure to be nervous. Yes, they will be relishing the chance to go toe-to-toe with the Sky Blues, but at the same time, they will have nothing more than a draw on their minds.
Manchester City
Luckily, there is one easy choice to make when it comes to the Manchester City squad and that is their Goal Keeper, Joe Hart (7-million).
True, the player carries a hefty price tag, but there are a number of reasons for it. Firstly, he earns plenty of points and secondly, he is the type of keeper which you buy and keep for an entire season. We recommend buying Hart and keeping him for the
long term as well.
Defenders
Here, the selection headache begins. One can only feel for Roberto Mancini and what he must go through to pick a starting 11 every week.
However, we shall buck the trend and recommend new signing, Gael Clichy. Looking to impress fans and manager alike, Clichy is the type of left back who ends up on the attack and with defenders of the calibre of Vincent Kompany and Lescott, the Frenchman
can afford to stay further up field on more occasions.
Midfielders
David Silva (9.7-million) should be a no-brainer. Creative and with an eye for goal, the player is another long-term squad member which managers should seriously consider.
The rest of the squad is great too, but Silva is the player who connects the midfield to the attack and players like that earn bucket loads of points.
Strikers
Edin Dzeko (8.8-million) enjoyed having his name on the score sheet four times in the previous Gameweek, a performance which kept him selected by a large number of managers.
However, we believe in long-term investments and Sergio Aguero seems like he has the hunger and ability to score more goals on a more regular basis.
Wigan Athletic
Before we even begin, we must point out that we put Wigan’s chances of getting anything out of this game as very low. Especially with manager, Roy Hodgson’s terrible away record.
On the basis of that we recommend keeping well away from their Goal Keeper, Ali Al-Habsi (4.5-million).
Defenders
With Aguero, Dzeko and Silva among others, breathing down their necks, the defence is sure to be strained by the attack. Though, if one likes taking risks, or if it’s down to budget issues, Emmerson Boyce (4.5-million) would be the wisest non-wise option.
Midfielders
Wigan’s midfield looks flat and should struggle against their more illustrious counterparts. We recommend, that for this gameweek at least, managers should select elsewhere, and the same goes for the strikers.
Our Picks:  David Silva and Joe Hart, the former is slightly more risky, but the latter is sure to get six points in the bag at least.
