Manchester City will soon become the world’s best club

Manchester City’s spending spree has finally showed is worth and the superstars bought in the summer have started to gel well playing out of their skins to make a mark of their club as among the world’s best alongside some of the illustrious clubs.
The intent was clear from the word go as Manchester City attacked from the very first minute in their Europa league match. Carlos Tevez led the attack who was well supported by Spanish world cup winner David Silva and Brazilian Jo.
Vincent Kompany and Kolo Toure were rock solid in defence and didn’t allow their opponents to create a free scoring opportunity. Manchester City claimed a 2-0 victory against FC Salzborg but the score line didn’t reflect the real story; it could have been half a dozen goals for City but Jo and Tevez were unable to convert the chances.
The display in the Europa league encounter last night, and the demolition of eighteen times English champion Liverpool, by Manchester City have sent warning to big clubs that they are here to challenge their dominance both for the titles and transfer signings.
Roberto Mancini has instilled his mentality into the minds of his players stating there is no one bigger than the club and this was clearly imminent when he allowed Brazilian star Robinho move away from Eastlands. Robinho, who was signed on a British record transfer fee of 32.5 million pounds, started his career at City with a bang but soon his flair and hunger for goals faded away which cost him his place in the starting line up.
He was clearly upset by his demotion to the bench and requested for a loan move to native Santos where he played for half of the season. The other victim of Mancini’s tactics was Welsh international Craig Bellamy who angrily moved to division two to play for his boyhood club.
This transfer window was also taken by storm by Manchester City who went out to sign stars on whatever money was available to them. Whether they were worth of that or not is the big question and still remains but City are not bothered about the money being spent, what they want is their cabinet full of titles. This time, however the world cup overshadowed the transaction of players.
English Premiership League, Spanish La liga and Italian Serie A are the main leagues where transfers are on its peak as the clubs spend big for world class performers. The biggest spenders in the world are Real Madrid, Chelsea, AC Milan, Manchester United, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and now Manchester City joins this elite list due to their spending spree in recent years powered by their Dubai based owner Sheikh Mansour.
Last year, Real Madrid astonishingly spent 240 million Euros in the phase of global recession, an amount that should have solved the economic crisis of some of the countries for the signature of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Karim Benzema and Raul Albiol.
This time around Manchester City has left all the big spenders behind signing Yaya Toure, David Silva, Jerome Boateng, Kolarov, James Milner and Mario Balotelli. The acquisition of Ivory Coast international Toure who is the younger brother of Kolo toure has made him the highest paid player in the premiership.
Manchester City will surely not stop as they have set their eyes on Liverpool’s Fernando Torres in the next transfer window. They wanted to have the Liverpool striker to join them but he turned down the offer and preferred to stay at Anfield.
They were also after Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahamovic but he moved to Italian giants, AC Milan. But the City owner, Sheikh Mansour has stated their ambitions are getting bigger and bigger. They are not here to play second fiddle to anyone. Nonetheless, someone needs to remind them “Money doesn’t buy you success!”.
