Manchester City winger compares Carlos Tevez to David Villa
Manchester City star David Silva has issued high praise for team-mate Carlos Tevez, comparing the Argentinian striker with 2010 FIFA World Cup winner David Villa.
City captain Tevez has been in good form this season, with his double-strike against Fulham on Sunday 21 November taking his tally for the English Premier League season to nine goals.
In total, the 26-year-old has scored 38 goals in 57 appearances for the Citizens since arriving at the City of Manchester Stadium in the summer of 2009.
As a result, his impressive goalscoring record at City has led Silva, who plays alongside Villa with the Spain national team and was team-mates with the Barcelona attacker at Valencia, to claim that Tevez is as good a goalscorer as Villa.
Silva, who moved to City in the summer, told reporters: "Carlos is a great striker, one of the best I have played with. David Villa tends to go more to the wings and look for the spaces behind the defence, whereas Carlos works in the centre channel and also
holds the ball in front for us so we can play. They are both great goalscorers."
Villa has netted 247 goals in 476 club games throughout his career, compared to 138 strikes in 308 appearances for Tevez.
Meanwhile, Silva insists that City have to potential to win the EPL title this year.
Losses by both Chelsea and Arsenal in those sides' most recent league games have seen the clubs at the top of the table moved closer together, and City are now just three points behind leaders Chelsea and Manchester United with 24 games still to be played.
However, City took just one point from two games before their win over Fulham and Silva says that his side must stop dropping points if they are to make a serious bid for the title. Silva added: "Everyone has been losing points but the same is also true
of us. All we can do is keep on moving forward, try to do our job and see where it takes us."
