Manchester City’s David Platt aiming for higher heights – English Premier League news
Manchester City first team coach, David Platt, has urged the team to build on their strong finish to the 2010/11 campaign. Platt wants the Sky Blues to fill their trophy cabinet in the seasons to come.
Manchester City have laid the foundations for future successes in the final weeks of the ongoing Barclays Premier League campaign. Roberto Mancini’s men recently won the FA Cup crown, something that the Citizens had not done since 1969. Perhaps more importantly,
though, Manchester City have secured their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
First team coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Platt has hailed the team’s efforts this season, but he has urged his players not to rest on their laurels. Speaking on the matter, Platt said, “Qualifying for the Champions League and the victory on Saturday (in the FA Cup) is testament
to the whole squad. The players have all played a part during the season. We've got to continue to win games, continue to win trophies and, slowly but surely, there'll be a mentality change in a sense that what becomes important is winning trophies rather
than actually just winning derby matches."
The Sky Blues are currently in fourth place in the Premier League standings. It means that City will get a chance to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League next season. However, things could still get better for Manchester City. If they win
their next match, they could overtake Arsenal in third place and should they manage to remain there until the end of the season, City would be ensured an automatic place in the group stages of the Champions League.
Platt added, “We've got two games to go and can take six points. If we do that we have done our job. We could actually get third place from Arsenal.”

of the season, they are sure to finish third in the Premier League standings.
