Manchester City’s Joe Hart or Chelsea’s Petr Cech: Gameweek 11 Top Picks – Fantasy Premier League
Another weekend of Barclays Premier League action is nearly upon us and while that may be a good thing for football fans to look forward to, it holds much more meaning for managers in the Fantasy Premier League.
So with the transfer deadline for Gameweek 11 closing in and action in the European competition taken care of in mid-week, it is time to focus on the weekly feast of football action.
Here are our top picks for the weekend, if readers want a more detailed analysis they can check out our Fantasy Premier League match previews.
Goal Keepers:
Petr Cech – Chelsea
This may have a few eyebrows raised, especially after the Czech goal keeper’s dismal performance against Arsenal last weekend, yet the Blues keeper was the first to issue a rallying cry.
Chelsea’s defence may be in shambles at the moment, conceding more goals in the previous three matches than one count on the fingers of one hand, yet at the same time with they are going up against a very poor Blackburn side who are more adept to picking
the ball out of their own net instead of scoring in the opposition’s.
Joe Hart – Manchester City
Another solid option would be Joe Hart from Manchester City. While the Sky Blues’ keeper may have conceded in the previous two matches, he can still be counted on to produce the goods against the Queens Park Rangers.
While it may be true that QPR beat Chelsea at home, it will be unlikely for the home side to put in a similar performance against City.
Defenders:
Jose Enrique – Liverpool
After a sluggish start to the season, in terms of points earned, Liverpool’s Spanish left-back is finally showing signs of the attacking prowess that made him a force to be reckoned with during his time at Newcastle United.
He seems to have settled in and has managed to earn an impressive 13-points in the previous two Gameweeks, something that managers should look to for confidence.
Seeing how Liverpool are playing at Anfield against a Swansea side who are woeful away from home, Enrique should be able to nab a few points for a clean sheet and maybe a few for an assist if he’s lucky.
Phil Jones – Manchester United
While a few readers may be wondering why the picks are only from the top teams in the league, the fact of the matter is that the coming weekend has pit the likes of Manchester City and United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham against relatively
less challenging teams.
Phil Jones’ value has gone up to 6-million and for good reason. His ability to attack and make things happen upfront are a bonus for Fantasy managers as well.
With Manchester United playing Sunderland at Old Trafford on the weekend, it would be a safe bet to bank on the home side coming away with a win and a clean sheet. Something that managers with Phil Jones in their sides will reap the benefits of.
