Manchester City's Joe Hart takes blame for Blackburn draw
Manchester City goalkeeper, Joe Hart, has today held his hands up and admitted that he was at fault for the blunder which gifted Blackburn Rovers with a goal against him.
The English Premier League clash ended in a 1-1 draw and Hart said that a mix-up between him and Kolo Toure afforded Nikola Kalinic the opportunity to open the scoring and tap in with the simplest of strikes. It was only the second goal that 24-year-old Hart has conceded for his club this term.
The England international reported to his club’s official website that a lack of communication with his defender was the reason why City lost a goal and dropped two valuable points. He said that, “I got there and Kolo was about to head it, he heard me coming and left it. It was me getting in the way if I am honest. I hold my hands up. I am sorry for that. I thought we did OK after the goal but Blackburn defended well.”
City boss Roberto Mancini may already be on shaky ground. In four games so far this season, City has picked up five points after winning one match, drawing two and losing one, to a last-minute Darren Bent penalty away at Sunderland. By this point last season, Mark Hughes had already guided City to four wins ( he was sacked in December).
With City chiefs targeting UEFA Champions League qualifications, and the team to face EPL big guns Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United at home over the next couple of months, Mancini will have to haul his expensive squad back on track if he wants to avoid the same fate as Hughes.
