Manchester City's Mariga move collapses

Manchester City’s attempts to sign Parma midfielder McDonald Mariga are over after the Kenyan was denied a work permit. City had had a £7 million bid accepted by the midfielder’s Italian club, but Mariga has failed to earn a work permit because of his country’s lowly Fifa ranking of 98. Mariga has played in 75% of his country’s internationals in the past year, but was denied his move because Kenya are not in the top 70 countries in the world.
