Manchester City’s Micah Richards delighted with his progress as a player – Premier League Update
Manchester City youngster and England international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Micah-Richards-c25259 has come forth and admitted that he is more than just delighted with the progress that he has made as a player. Richards feels that as a player, he has grown twice as big over the last couple
of years and hopes to expand even more in the coming years.
When talking about his career and how it evolved, Richards is quoted to have said: "When I first came in [to the Manchester City team] Stuart Pearce was great for me, gave me my debut at 17.”
"Back then I wasn't really playing for much and you could just go out there and enjoy it. As I got to 19, 20, 21, it started to get serious, with England and the transformation at City.”
He then admitted that between the ages of nineteen and twenty, he suffered the most problems as he just couldn’t avoid getting picked on, or being pushed around all the time.
"Seventeen to 19 or 20 I was just getting praise. Then when things aren't going so well you're getting most of the stick and it's hard at such a young age. That's when your confidence goes.”
Richards then went on to reveal that his pace and strength had often gotten him out of sticky situations in the past, but he was now looking to develop into a more technical player, so that he could beat opponents without having to go all out and tiring
himself all the time.
Despite being hailed by many managers, the young England international feels that the faith Roberto Mancini has shown in him is enough to get him on the right track to help him play his best.
Richards then went on to add: "But now [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 has installed another belief in me and I'm repaying him by playing well.
"He's improved my game a lot. He always tells me: 'If you're 100 per cent you can be the best.' When a manager's telling you that, you believe him.”
Richards has come a long way from his earlier days. Previously, the player used to be looked at as a player, who was strong, powerful, fast, but one who didn’t have the ability to think his actions through.
Given the progress that he has shown over the last few years, he has come a long way from those criticisms. Richards is now regarded as one of the best full backs in the land and is more than likely to be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749’s first choice from now on.
