Manchester City’s Roberto Mancini still spying on Fernando Torres

The Manager of Manchester City Roberto Mancini has revealed that he is still interested in the signing of the Spanish striker Fernando Torres for the Citizens. The Eastlands have long since expressed their admiration for the star Spanish player and have been trying to persuade him to quit Liverpool and join them. They have made bids of up to 60 million pounds on him but no confirmed answer has yet been given by the Spanish star.
Even though the club has made a lot of signings this year they have expressed that they still have financial backing to make a couple more and those couple do not include the small minnows from the market. They include world class players from the top clubs of the world. They just recently announced that they will be spending around 60 million pounds to buy three players.
Even after that they will have money without bothering their rich financers for it. Mancini has cooked up a very clever plan in which he is selling 13 of his players and will be receiving about 110 million pounds in return. With that kind of money at hand there is big probability that the club will be making last minute signings of big players to turn the tables around.
The newly settled man in charge of Liverpool Roy Hodgson has stated that he has tried very hard and so have the men at Liverpool to convince El Nino to stay with Liverpool this season however it seems unlikely that it will happen.
He told that the reason for that is something that disturbs Torres from his stay with the club in the past. The former Fulham manager expressed that Torres had clarified to him that he approved of his actions at Anfield and that he had nothing against him but he simply could not stay with Liverpool anymore.
The Light Blues owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan indeed has a lot of money and since he has become the owner of the club, the club has changed a lot for the good. They have already signed in Jerome Boateng, Aleksandar Kolarov, Yaya Toure and David Silva this season and they still are looking strong to get a couple more before the season ends and one man that is on top of 45 year old Italian’s list is Fernando Torres.
Chelsea’s manager Carlo Ancelotti has announced that he will be willing to pay as much as 70 million pounds for him and that is another reason that he is highly sought by Manchester City so that they will not have to encounter the heavy Chelsea attack.
While talking to media Mancini said, “Torres is one of the best strikers in Europe and is already playing in the Premier League for three years and knows it very well. But it depends on his situation - his price and whether he wants to come”.
He further explained his signing plans by adding, “There are two or three strikers that we could go for, but it is the same situation as it is with James Milner. First there is the price and then it depends if the players want to change team. Until today, Liverpool haven't bought many players”.
Other players that have caused a spark in the camps of Manchester City are the Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli and the Aston Villa midfielder James Milner. They too will be an invaluable addition to the team according to Mancini however he has informed that the club is not desperate to sign them and will acquire them only if they come in at a reasonable price.
Mancini reckoned on the subject, “When Manchester City inquire about a £10million player, the club asks for £20million. That is not good for us, James is still a player who interests us but only at the right price”.
