Paraguayan striker, Roque Santa Cruz is looking forward to sign a permanent contract with Blackburn Rovers during the summer transfer window of 2011. The 29-year-old is currently playing for Rovers on-loan from Manchester City. He is keen to extend his stint
at Ewood Park at the end of the season, by securing a permanent place in the English club.
The on-loan striker believes that his future lies at Ewood Park and that he intends to convert his loan move into a permanent one. Cruz has revealed to the media that his return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 could actually reignite his career.
“The loan ends this summer and I need to see how it goes, but once I finish here I will need to go back to City,” Santa Cruz stated to the media. “Everyone knows that I am very happy at Blackburn, I have a lot of friends. I have enjoyed my time here so it
would be a great thing for me if I could stay but it is up to the club and City so we need to see what will happen.”
Santa Cruz is a professional football player from Asunción, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paraguay-c2979. He is deployed as a striker for the English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers. The striker is also giving his valuable services to the Paraguay national football team.
A product of 1990s Olimpia youth academy, Cruz joined the club’s senior team in 1997. After making a total of 23 appearances with 13 goals, he moved to Bayern Munich in 1999. Cruz’s spell with the German Bundesliga club lasted about eight years, in which
he made an impressive 155 appearances, scoring 31 goals. In 2007, the Paraguayan striker was signed up by Blackburn Rovers.
He served the English side for two good seasons before making a move to Manchester City in June 2009. The transfer deal involved a four-year contract with the Premier League club, worth £17.5 million. Cruz netted his first Manchester City goal on 28 October
2009, in the Carling Cup against Scunthorpe. However, his performances remained limited at the Eastlands, primarily because of succession of injuries. This resulted in his loan contract with Blackburn Rovers, and on 14 January 2011, he returned to the side
for the remainder of the 2010–’11 season.
Ever since his return to Ewood Park, the former Bayern Munich man’s performances on the field have been hampered by his injuries and loose form. However, securing a permanent place in the Rovers’ team could help bring out his old scintillating form on the
pitch.
