Sergio Aguero has come to the defence of his team mate, Mario Balotelli just hours before the Italian striker is going to be judged by the English FA.
The Italian forward is in hot water for a stamp on Tottenham Hotspur’s Scott Parker, during a Premier League encounter between the two sides.
During the game, Balotelli tripped over the fallen Parker and while landing his foot, he seemed to launch it towards the midfielder’s face.
Balotelli has claimed that everything that happened was purely coincidental and that he didn’t intend to stomp on the player.
However, the FA has decided to ban the player for four games, with the possibility of extending his ban even further, based on a meeting with the player.
Aguero, who seems to have herd just about enough of all the anti-Balotelli rants, has come forth and defended the Italian, as he claims he is one of the nicest people around.
When talking about Balotelli, Aguero is quoted to have said: "Firstly we all know what a fantastic player he is. And off the pitch, everyone has their own path"
"But those of us who are really close to Mario know that off the field he's a really good lad.
"Like a lot of players he has his own idiosyncrasies here and there. Everyone knows him as a player from what you see on the field. But I know that off the field he's a lovely lad.
"He's a young lad, he takes care of himself and approaches his life as he wants."
It is still unclear as to just what actually happened with Balotelli and Parker, as the player keeps claiming it was an accident, but the FA seems to think otherwise.
Should the striker end up getting banned, then Manchester City are going to have to adapt a single striker policy, since they would only have Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero to choose amongst.
Nonetheless, with City and Balotelli’s immediate future depending on the FA, it is now a wait to see just whether they rule in favour of or against the striker.
