Newcastle United boss, Alan Pardew, has singled out defender Steven Taylor for praise as the English defender hugely impressed in the recent 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Tyneside club bounced back from their first defeat of the season against Manchester City, as they earned a hard fought draw against Manchester United on the weekend.
Newcastle United gave one of the best defensive performances of the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season. Alan Pardew’s men did well to contain the hosts in the first half and fought hard to equalise the score after conceding a goal in the starting
minutes of the second half.
Manchester United recorded 29 shots on goals, and it was Newcastle United’s impressive defensive display that earned the visitors a crucial point despite being one man down in the last 15 minutes.

Pardew told the reporters:
“He put himself in the line of fire and it’s what he’s done all season for us. It wasn’t a one-off , he’s been doing that all year. You’ve got to have a good spirit and say to your side ‘you’re going to have put yourself toe-to-toe with some of the best
players in the world' and we did.”
The Magpies manager believes that Taylor’s impressive performances could earn him a call-up to England squad and added:
“You could do a montage from today’s game and say he could play for England. He’s been outstanding.”
Despite earning 29 caps for England Under-21, the 25-year-old has never represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 on the senior level.
Steven Taylor, who has been at Newcastle United since 2003, has been a revelation at St James Park this season. The English defender is a vital member of the Magpies defence and has featured in all their league games this campaign.
